Entrepreneurship is often described as a fire, those of us who choose this path choose to dance with fire.
It’s a burning passion and drive to create something new, to solve problems, and to make a difference in the world.
This fire can be incredibly powerful, but it can also be difficult to manage. When things are going well, the fire can fuel our motivation and drive us to new heights of success doing what we and often many others thought was impossible.
But when things get hard, the fire can become overwhelming, consuming us and our thoughts and emotions and making it difficult to see a way forward.
It is during these difficult times that we must learn to dance with the fire.
We must learn to embrace the challenges that come our way and use them as opportunities for growth and learning.
We must stay the course, even when it gets brutally hard, and trust in our own abilities to overcome the obstacles in our path. As Ryan Holliday states in his excellent book the Obstacle is the Way (reflecting on Stoic Philosophy)
“The obstacle in the path becomes the path. Never forget, within every obstacle is an opportunity to improve our condition.”
In these challenging times in 2023, with persistently high inflation, venture capital drying up, banks failing and layoffs happening across industries, we must relearn to dance with fire, after all the obstacle is always the way!
